The Random Tech Stuff I Run Into Every Day

I saw an article on Lifehacker back in the day that suggested Just
One Club Card
.

Recently, I was researching Yowza and noticed that there was an app in the iTunes
app store called WalletZero.

Both of these let you re-create your club cards digitally.  Just One Club
Card lets you re-print it on a single piece of paper you can just put in your
wallet.  WalletZero lets you display them on your iPhone/iPod Touch.  I
have yet to use WalletZero at the store, but from the reviews, it sounds like it works
well.

Laura purchased a new laptop bag for me this past Christmas.

The old bag I was carrying was excellent for the time I purchased it as you could
put two of the huge Dell Inspiron 8000 or Latitude D800 series laptops in in at the
same time.  With all of their accessories.  It was great back in the day
when I ran around webcasting events.  Just throw everything in a single backpack
and go.  You had enough room for you just-in-case cables.

I had been looking for a new bag off and on.  A couple days before Christmas,
I noticed a 50% off sale (forget which store) on North Face Backpacks, including the Surge (2008
edition, in black).  I sent the link to Laura in the hopes she’d still need a
gift for me.  Sure enough, on Christmas morning she (or perhaps one of the cats)
had given it to me.  It took a couple weeks for me to get fully moved in, but
now that I am (and the laptop compartment has stretched to handle my Lenovo W500),
I only have very minor complaints.  On the whole, the bag is quite excellent.

If I could change anything, I’d give the pocket that has all the smaller pockets to
hold items like cables and adapters a few more zipper pockets.  I’ve found that
I put my iPod sync cable and headphones in the same zipper pocket and they get all
tangled together.  And my USB thumb drives are in another and if I turn the bag
upside down and right side up again, they all end up in the bottom of the containing
pocket.

All in all, I give this bag two thumbs up.
